Every ingredient is thoughtfully researched and all controversial, harmful, or toxic substances are excluded from our products.
DERMATOLOGIST AND CLINICALLY TESTED
THOYA Laboratoire products are all clinically tested under dermatological control, fragrance free, hypoallergenic, and not irritant.
Sustainable Practices
THOYA implements sustainable practices and all packaging is made of recyclable material. We always prioritize local and high quality ingredients. All products are locally developed, tested, and manufactured to minimize our ecological footprint.
Not Animal tested
THOYA products are NOT tested on animals. Discover our vegan formulations.
Zinc-Oxide Mineral UV Filter
All our sunscreens use only non-nano zinc oxide mineral UV filter. Zinc oxide is a safe UV filter approved by Health Canada that effectively protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
Clinical and Laboratory Tests
THOYA researchers at Sciencederm are committed to work on next-generation products designed to protect, maintain and optimize the health of the skin. Sciencederm has established collaborations with renowned institutions, companies, and universities and pursues continuous research and development in the field of technologies in dermatology.
Hypoallergenic, Not Irritant, Dermatologist Tested
All THOYA products are clinically tested hypoallergenic and non irritant under dermatological control by an independent laboratory. THOYA products are formulated without fragrances, chemical UV filters, essential oils, citrus extracts, phenoxyethanol, EDTA, and other potentially irritating ingredients.
Products are tested on a panel of at least 50 adult volunteers using the Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT) protocol during a period of 6 weeks.
This test consists in repeated application of patches containing the product sample on the skin of volunteers to assess the potential of the product to induce irritation/sensitization. This skin test is performed under dermatological control.
Every THOYA product undergoes the HRIPT testing process to confirm its safety and can be qualified as hypoallergenic and not irritant.
Sunscreen Tests
THOYA sunscreens are rigorously tested by independent laboratories according to strict regulatory standards and are all approved by Health Canada.
Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
SPF testing is performed according to strick FDA standard rules and is performed by an independent laboratory on a panel of at least 10 adult volunteers of different skin prototypes. The SPF ratio is computed from the energies that produce the first perceptible erythema (burning) with defined edges for sunscreen protected skin and unprotected skin of the same volunteer. The SPF of a sunscreen is obtained by computing the arithmetic mean value of all valid SPF numbers obtained from all volunteers in the trial.
Broad Spectrum
All THOYA sunscreens are also tested according to the FDA standard test for broad-spectrum (UVA + UVB) protection. This test consists in an in vitro (laboratory) analysis that measures the absorbance spectrum of the tested sunscreen product from 290 nm to 400 nm. The critical wavelength value of the product is then computed from the absorbance spectrum curve and must be equal or higher than 370 nm for a sunscreen to be labelled broad spectrum. All THOYA sunscreens offer broad-spectrum (UVA + UVB) protection.
Laboratory Analyses
Products developed by THOYA are designed to comply with the highest standards in dermocosmetics. Each formula undergoes a series of rigorous laboratory tests and microbiological analysis to assess its stability, safety, and quality.
*THOYA products are not tested on animals.
